One of the best things about your neighborhood toy store is that they are always giving back to the communities they serve. Child’s Play, a Northwest Portland store, is no exception! They partner with their local library to provide family game night events, contests, and more. Recently, they sponsored a “Build the Future” Lego contest at the library.

I have always been known as a “fun” guy. You can’t have a name like Crazy Aaron without having some fun. Although my serious side got me through college and into the world of software engineering, my fun side was what kept me busy with desk toys and other gadgets. It was also what inspired me to start coloring my own putty and selling it from under my desk in my cubicle. It was CRAZY fun!

Best Toys for Kids Winner: RingStix

If you’re looking for a game that will keep the whole family moving, RingStixx are it! The genius is in the game’s simplicity. Each player holds two sticks which he uses to propel the ring spinning forward toward the other player. The catching player then uses the end of one or both of the sticks to catch the flying ring. This repeats back and forth while  spinning, leaping and laughing. Families can invent their own way of playing, keep score and do tricks - it’s a new game every time! No wonder it’s a 2013 Best Toys for Kids winner!
